Spring

Spring days are generally brisk and refreshing, as the Spring blossoms erupt. Average temperatures range from about 14-20 degrees Celsius. Mornings and evenings can be chilly, and there are still some showers at this time of year, so pack light clothing that you can layer, along with a raincoat.

Summer

Salt Spring Island enjoys mild, comfortable summers, although they have been warmer than usual more recently. June to August temperatures linger just about 23 degrees Celsius. Evenings can be cool so it’s best to pack a light jacket and sweater.

Fall

Autumn on Salt Spring Island is very temperate, with summer-like weather often stretching into early October. Evenings can be crisp, so make sure you pack something warmer. You’ll likely also encounter some rain, so make sure to pack a raincoat.

Winter

Salt Spring Island’s winters are mild and wet. There is the occasional snowfall, but the temperature rarely drops below 0 degrees Celsius for long. From November to February, temperatures average from 5 to 10 degrees Celsius during the day. To stay cozy and dry, you will need warm clothes, hats and a warm, rain resistant jacket. Waterproof footwear, such as rubber boots, is also a good idea.

Salt Spring Island is located in the sheltered waters of the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia, off the west coast of Canada.

Because of its close proximity to Vancouver Island, Salt Spring is the most accessible of the chain of BC Gulf Islands, with the most frequent ferry sailings on the three routes of the three ferry terminals.

Travel By Air

Salt Spring Island is served by Harbour Air Seaplanes, which links the harbour in the village of Ganges to Vancouver and Seattle.

Harbour Air is located in Ganges, the main town on Salt Spring Island. It has frequent service between the Lower Mainland and the Islands: South Vancouver (YVR), Downtown Vancouver (Vancouver Harbour), many other Gulf Islands and Pat Bay and Maple Bay on Vancouver Island.

Harbour Air offers three daily flights from downtown Vancouver and Vancouver International Airport, ensuring convenient access for travelers.

Travel by Boat

Gulf Islands Water Taxi is also located in the main town of Ganges on Salt Spring Island. It serves a unique island culture that still relies on water taxis and services for its essential services. They transport visitors and residents, including groups of cyclists, kayakers, hikers and birders.

Travel by BC Ferry

• BC Ferries operates a scheduled ferry service for car and foot passengers from Tsawassen (Vancouver) and Swartz Bay (Victoria) to Salt Spring Island
• Sailing times range from 35 minutes to 3 hours

Directions to Lightwater Cove, coming by car from Ganges

Follow Fulford Ganges Rd, Cushion Lake Rd and Stewart Rd to Beaver Point Rd.

Continue on Beaver Point Road to King Rd.

Turn right on King Rd.

Destination is at the end of King Rd on the left (301 King Rd).

Directions to Lightwater Cove, coming by car from Fulford

Head northwest on Fulford Ganges Road towards Beaver Point Rd. Fulford Ganges Rd turns slightly right and becomes Beaver Point Rd.

Turn right onto King Rd.

Destination is at the end of King Rd on the left (301 King Rd).

Navigating Salt Spring Island is most convenient when you have access to a car. The nearest restaurants are just a short 10-minute drive away from our location, providing a variety of dining options for our guests to enjoy beyond the included Continental Breakfast. While we do have a gourmet food stand called the Woodshed next door, perfect for grabbing a quick lunch, perfect for grabbing a quick lunch, many of our guests prefer venturing out to experience the local dining scene for dinner.

Each booking includes a freshly prepared breakfast buffet with seasonal produce from our onsite farm.

Guests can enjoy complimentary organic, locally roasted coffee and tea selections.

Lunch 

Seasonal, fresh baking as well as take-out salads, soups, picnic, and charcuterie fare are available at the Woodshed stand beside the entrance to Lightwater Cove.

You’ll find a diverse selection of nearby restaurants to explore, each offering unique flavors and specialties. Our closest restaurant is Rocksalt in Fulford, a 10-minute drive from Lightwater Cove. Takeout 

Right next door, is the Woodshed’s gourmet food stand, offering a variety of delicious meals. You can choose from their selection and easily heat it here using our microwave oven, complete with dinnerware and cutlery available in The Great Hall.

Additionally, you can order takeout from various restaurants in Ganges. Whether you’re in the mood for pizza, sushi, Chinese food, or a hearty meal. Please email us for a full list of take-out restaurants.
